Evaluation of College Magazine

Evaluation

Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign were used for the process of creating the contents page and front cover for my college magazine. I found out that both of these softwares were excellent software for when making a magazine cover of contents page.
The front cover for my College Magazine I believe was a very good, as I followed the conventions of a magazine front cover. I used an original image with a plain background so that any cover lines or text that was put onto the front cover could stand out and be easily seen by my target audience, as this is what a conventional magazine should withhold. I also added a flash which features a trip that is the college is having, this automatically pulls the audience in and makes them want to find out more, this is another conventional feature for a magazine cover. I also made sure that my cover lines, price tag and flash were all in red as it is a colour that stood out against the plain white background. My college magazine is also free which may make the audience more intrigued at taking my magazine and reading it as my audience are young people and they enjoy having things for free.
My contents page needs a lot of improvement as I got some peer feedback and they suggested that I should make it more creative and eye catching. However they did say that I should have made my image on the contents page portrait instead of landscape. It was also suggested by my peers that some of the cover lines and the masthead are clashing with the background and it is slightly difficulty to read them.

Some suggested improvements are:
- Make the cover lines and masthead slightly darker
- Move the flash to the bottom of the front cover

  1. Your college magazine shows some very good understanding of convention and developing technical skills. Well done! You should be more specific about tools used etc, and quote analyse your peer responses. Also ask someone to proofread your work for you.
